Swifts
Welcome to Year 3 with Mrs Marks and Mrs Ward
Autumn Term
First Half of the Autumn Term:
We are excited to dive into some wonderful books this term, starting with Greta and the Giants and The Pebble in my Pocket. These stories will inspire us to write poems about our emotions and create first-person narrative descriptions. In maths, our focus will be on understanding place value before moving on to addition. In science, we will explore the fascinating world of rocks, learning about different types and their properties.
Second Half of the Autumn Term:
As we move into the second half of the term, we’ll be reading Leon and the Place Between and the classic ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. Our writing will include non-chronological reports, formal letters of complaint, and performing poetry. In maths, we'll build on our addition skills and then progress to subtraction, multiplication, and division.
French Lessons:
Throughout the year, the children will also begin their French language journey with Mrs Kandes, which is sure to be an exciting new experience for them.
PE Days
Our PE days are on Mondays and Tuesdays. Please ensure that children bring or wear shorts on Mondays for our gymnastics lessons. On Thursdays, we will be outside, so appropriate clothing for the weather is essential.
As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to catch any of the Year 3 team. We’re here to help and support you and your child throughout this exciting year!
